TEDx Asheville Looks to Inspire All Generations

About TEDx

TED (Technology, Entertainment & Design) began as a small annual conference in California sponsored by people who believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately the world. Since 1984 the TED Conference has developed into a clearinghouse spreading “ideas worth spreading” from the world’s most inspired thinkers. For more information about TED, and to view videos of past TED Presentations, visit http://ted.com

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxAsheville, where “x” = an independently organized TED event. At TEDxAsheville, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

Each year TEDx inspires audiences to grasp a different point of view on various topics – education, leadership, and sustainability being a few. During Asheville’s third annual TEDx,  we can look forward to hearing SustainU CEO Chris Yura share how to wear a better story. Alongside Yura will be other inspirational voices such as: Jeffrey Kluger, a senior editor of TIME magazine, Justin Purnell, CEO of Teach The World, Amie Tracey, Lead Designer of software and web development company Ponderwell, and many others.
